John the Baptist
The Voice in the Wilderness
Key Scripture
“He must increase, but I must decrease.”
— John 3:30
✦Life Story
John the Baptist was the fulfillment of prophecies written centuries before his birth — the voice crying in the wilderness, prepare the way of the LORD. He lived in the desert, wore camel hair, ate locusts, and drew enormous crowds from Jerusalem. He baptized thousands, rebuked Pharisees and Herod alike, and pointed everyone he met toward the One coming after him. When Jesus arrived, John said: He must increase, but I must decrease — the most selfless mission statement in history. He spent his life as a signpost pointing away from himself toward Jesus. He never built a platform for himself; he built a runway for the Messiah. Jesus called him the greatest man born of woman.

Daily Challenge
Ask yourself today: am I pointing people to Jesus, or to myself? Make your life a signpost, not a destination.
Prayer
Lord, give me John's clarity about my purpose and his freedom from self-promotion. Let every gift, every platform, and every relationship I have point away from me and toward Jesus. He must increase. Amen.
📖 How This Story Speaks Today
John the Baptist understood his purpose completely — not to accumulate followers but to prepare the way. That kind of obedience costs everything and gains the only thing that matters.
